AIO eBook:
Windows XP Command Line
While it may true today that MS-DOS (Microsoft's Disk Operating System) may be "dead" as a stand-alone computer operating system, nevertheless as many pc technicians and those with network or computer certification well know, handling command syntax, parameters, parsing commands, and troubleshooting are just a few of the many technical tasks that are many times handled far better from the command line interface (the DOS prompt), than in the Windows graphical user interface (GUI).
This becomes even more of an issue when you begin to run computers with Microsoft's latest (and best) operating system, Windows XP. Unlike earlier versions of Windows (all the Windows 9.x family), XP is not based on the DOS kernel. Instead, like Windows 2000, it is based on the NT kernel.
Learning these seemingly endless DOS commands is not all that easy, and requires a great deal of concentration and practice to master. In response, DOS classes are still wisely included in most all the computer curriculum across the country, but finding the right book to help students quickly learn DOS is a challenge.
